| About us :: Gas Detection (Australia) Ltd Combined Study & Work Experience Award. 
This Award will be offered again in 2013 by Gas Detection Australia Ltd to promote and encourage undergraduate study in Electrical and Electronic Engineering at the University of Southern Queensland. The Award will be offered to a student from the Toowoomba region commencing a Bachelor of Engineering (Electrical and Electronic Engineering or Computer Systems Engineering majors) full-time, on campus in Semester One 2013. The Award is intended for those students who, through family financial hardship may be prevented from undertaking university study. GDA will provide work based training and work experience on site at their USQ offices. Award value The Award will have a total value of $21,600 (over a 4 year program) and be paid directly to the recipient by GDA in a stipend of $450 per month for the duration of the recipient’s degree program.
Eligibility Applicants must: > be citizens of Australia or have permanent resident status > reside in the Toowoomba region > be completing Year 12 in 2012 and achieve an OP between 1 and 7 > intend commencing their studies with USQ Toowoomba, on campus in Semester One 2013 > meet the requirements of entry to a Bachelor of Engineering > have been actively involved in school, community or sporting activities
Conditions > The Award will be forfeited if: - the recipient changes their mode of study from on-campus study to external study or from full-time to part-time study - the recipient changes their program of study to one not majoring in Electrical and Electronic Engineering or Computer Systems Engineering - the recipient cancels their enrollment in the program - the recipient fails any course in the program. - the recipient does not meet the requirements of work based training to a satisfactory level as determined by GDA. > The Award will be paid directly to the student by GDA. > The Award is not transferable to another student under any circumstances. > GDA reserves the right to offer more than one Award in any one academic year and reserves the right to not issue an Award should suitable candidates not be found > GDA reserves the right to rescind the Award at any time. > The recipient will be required to carry out up to 10 hrs work based training and work experience each week on site at GDA’s USQ offices. During non term times the Award will be maintained provided this training requirement is carried out. > The GDA Award will automatically renew each year provided the recipient has met all the course requirements of the previous year. > Each year the recipient’s performance will be reviewed by GDA in consultation with the recipient and Electrical & Electronic Engineering or Computer Systems Engineering > At the completion of the recipient’s study program a full time position of employment at Gas Detection Australia based in Toowoomba may be offered.
